name - Elasdeir "El" Divineson
age - 28
race - Magus, a group of sorcerers who have mastered the skill of forging magical blades.

world setting - Set in the fantasy world of Felithian, El lives upon the continent Jourllis (which is roughly 7.5 million square kms in size. (Just a bit smaller than Australia.)) It is a landmass settled in the Northern hemisphere and thus has its fair share of snow, forests and northern lights. Qualifying as an "underdeveloped" world, its people depend on the land for their survival and fight their battles with more primitive weapons such as swords, spears and the occasional magic spell.

Currently the land has been divided into four main powers, all of whom have been at war with each other in same way or another. To the west and encompassing most of the mountainous region that houses the dragons are the Weapons, a race of people blessed by the god Faliel who assert their strength through (you guessed it) weapons. What makes their blades special however is that they are physical manifestations of their own willpower, making their strength (in theory) limitless.

To the east are the Sorcerers, spell casters blessed with the talent to manipulate any surrounding element to their will by the god Myrthas. Due to religious beliefs, the Sorcerers and Weapons have been at war with each other for as long as anyone can remember and have only recently come to a cease-fire in order to push back the Magus.

The Magus are a race of blade-wielding spell casters that inhabit the north. Their talents came to them from the goddess Pavao who, in seeing the strengths of both the Weapons and Sorcerers, chose to combine the best of both in her people. As such, the Magus tend to think they're superior and that both the Sorcerers and Weapons are inadequate, which is what has led to the current tumultuous situation in Jourllis.

However, as always, there are a minority of people who don't care for the values of their people and abandon their cultures. Weapons who don't want to serve their god, Sorcerers born without magical talent or Magus who can't stand the arrogance of their kinsmen. These people have fled their homelands with a majority of them gathering in the south, creating a multitude of homeless tribes called the Nomads/Settlers. Due to their nearly universal state of not believing in Myrthas, Faliel or Pavao, they have come to be called "godless heathens" by the other three countries and persecuted.

about - Elasdeir Divineson, affectionately known as "El" to his friends and family, is a direct descendant of the Goddess Pavao who is the primary deity of Seidland, country of the Magus. His father was the former Head of the Roirkith Academy of Spellcraft, the main establishment in which to learn the trade of spellcasting in the capital city of Evande. As a result, his family has a great deal of pull. So much so that when his father died and his mother remarried a Sorcerer slave, their name wasn't placed in the Book of Black, a tome encompassing all the names of tarnished families. El, despite his personal thoughts, could hardly disown his mother and left her to her own devices. His forgiveness would come later when they gave birth to a daughter, a half-sister by the name of Meridia. Though he wasn't the type to express his emotions freely, it was clear to see he doted upon her and thought nothing of her mixed heritage. As a result, Meridia came to view her brother rather dearly and was very close to him.

Slated to be the next head of the Academy of Spellcraft, it's understandable that the current Head who had inherited his father's position, Magelord Argyle, wanted to prevent El from taking back the title by any means necessary. To that end, he was constantly testing him, trying to cause El to mess up so badly that the council would have no choice but to abolish him and his family. One of these tests was to give him a Sorceress slave by the name of Kiryna. Hoping that El would relate to her due to his family's situation and set her free, thus giving the council evidence that he was a rebel sympathizer, Argyle maintained a watchful eye on El who had on previous occasions expressed a clear dislike for the practice of slavery.

Unable to free her for fear of putting his family in danger and unable to get rid of her knowing it would condemn Kiryna to death, El was forced to keep her at his side for both their sakes.
